4 More iPhoto Tips

Here are four more ways to get more out of the Photos app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Each one takes less than a minute to try.

COPY TEXT FROM A PHOTO: Apple calls this Live Text.

  • Take a picture of a sign, a business card, or a label.

  • Open the photo, then touch and hold on the words.

  • Select the text and copy it, or tap a phone number to call it.

CLEAR OUT DUPLICATES: Photos can find duplicate pictures for you.

  • Open the Photos app and scroll down to Utilities.

  • Tap Duplicates.

  • Tap Merge to keep the best copy.

If you do not see Duplicates, your library does not have any, or your device is still checking.

HIDE A PHOTO: Some pictures should not appear when you hand someone your phone, such as a photo of an ID card or a surprise gift.

  • Open the photo.

  • Tap the More button (the three dots).

  • Choose Hide.

Hidden photos move to the Hidden album, which stays locked until you unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

FIX THE DATE OR LOCATION: Scanned photos and pictures sent by others often show the wrong date.

  • Open the photo and swipe up, or tap the info button.

  • Tap Adjust.

  • Correct the date, time, or location.

Try one of these today. Your future self will thank you!
