Keep the Family in the Loop Without a Dozen Phone Calls

When someone you love is sick, everyone wants an update, and they all call you. Repeating the same news ten times is exhausting. Set up one place for updates and send people there.

PICK ONE PLACE FOR UPDATES: Choose a single group text or a shared note and tell the family that is where news will be posted. One message reaches everyone, and no one hears it secondhand.

SEND ONE UPDATE A DAY: Decide on a time, such as after the evening visit, and post a short update: how they are doing, what the doctor said, and what is next. People stop calling when they know an update is coming.

SHARE A CALENDAR: In the Calendar app, create a calendar for appointments and visits and share it with the family. Everyone can see what is scheduled and who is covering which day.

NAME ONE BACKUP PERSON: Ask one family member to answer questions and pass along news on the days you cannot. You do not have to be the only voice.

Being the point person is a real job. A simple system lets you spend your energy on the person who needs you. Your future self will thank you!
